T. Kurner et al., EVALUATION AND VERIFICATION OF THE VHF UHF PROPAGATION CHANNEL BASED ON A 3-D-WAVE PROPAGATION MODEL/, IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation, 44(3), 1996, pp. 393-404
This paper is intended to increase and improve the knowledge concernin
g the characterization of digital VHF/UHF communication channels, This
characterization of the propagation channel is based on the fieldstre
ngth-delay-spectrum (FDS) of the three-dimensional (3-D) multipath wav
e propagation. A statistical superposition of the predicted multipath
signals yields the probability density function of the narrowband sign
al and the averaged channel impulse response of the wideband propagati
on channel, Thereof, the relevant parameters, e.g., standard deviation
s, mean values, delay spread, and correlation coefficients, are derive
d both in time and frequency domain. The angles-of-arrival of the mult
ipath signals are used to calculate the Doppler spectra of moving rece
ivers for the characterization the time-variant properties of the prop
agation channel. In total, a rather complete summary of derivations, a
lgorithms and characteristics of the VHF/UHF propagation channel is pr
esented. Narrowband and wideband measurements are included for verific
ation.
