Abstract
Studies by means of PET, Xe-133 and Tc-99m-HMPAO SPECT have revealed e vidence of hypofrontality in patients with schizophrenia. We have asse ssed 26 patients with acute psychoses and tried to find out whether a schizophrenia (ICD-10: F 20) could be distinguished from differential diagnoses of schizoid disorders (F 21) and transient acute psychotic d isorders (F 23) by means of Tc-99m-HMPAO SPECT. Tc-99m-HMPAO SPECT doe s not contribute to differentiation between diagnoses of schizoid and transient acute psychotic disorders in the early stages of schizophren ia.
