Line-mixing effects have been studied in two Q branches of the absorpt
ion spectra of CO2, in mixtures with nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. The
corresponding transitions are (20(0)0)(I) <-- 01(1)0 and (12(2)O)(l) <
-- 01(1)0, centered near 2130 cm(-1) and 2093 cm(-1), respectively. Li
ne-mixing effects have also been examined in two Q-branches of pure N2
O, corresponding to the 13(1)0 <-- 00(0)0 and 13(1)0 <-- 01(1)0 transi
tions, centered near 3046 cm(-1) and 2457 cm(-1), respectively. Good a
greement is obtained between the experimental results and computations
taking line mixing effects into account with a phenomenological model
for the relaxation matrix. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
