Abstract
The last resort: Whistleblowers in scientific misconduct cases say the y agree with research administrators and established researchers that going through proper institutional channels is the optimal way to hand le allegations of wrongdoing; but when they feel the process is not wo rking properly, taking their charges public is sometimes the only way to set things right, they contend.
