L. Bouard et al., COMPARISON BETWEEN 3 TURBULENT MODELS - APPLICATION TO THERMOHYDRODYNAMIC PERFORMANCES OF TILTING-PAD JOURNAL BEARINGS, Tribology international, 29(1), 1996, pp. 11-18
The influence of the flow regime on tilting-pad journal bearing perfor
mance is presented. Three turbulent models are studied. The results sh
ow that for high rotational speeds the effect of nonlaminar flow on th
e predicted performance is not negligible. At high speeds, lower tempe
ratures and greater power losses are obtained. Isotherms determined wi
th laminar and turbulent models help to explain this phenomenon.
