Th. Koh, WRAPPING OF AN ACE(TM) BALLOON-ON-A-WIRE DEVICE DURING PTCA THROUGH ADIAGNOSTIC 5FR CATHETER, Journal of interventional cardiology, 9(1), 1996, pp. 53-57
Balloon wrapping is a new phenomenon that has been described with rite
introduction of balloon-on-a-wire devices. The ACE(TM) balloon cathet
er is one such second-generation device. There have been no reports of
balloon wrapping or twisting with this fixed wire catheter. This arti
cle describes a patient who developed balloon wrapping it? the course
of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty through a 5.2Fr Cord
is diagnostic catheter, during multilesion dilatation in a small and t
ortuous left anterior descending coronary artery. The causative mechan
isms, as well as alternative approaches Soi dealing with such a simila
r scenario in future are discussed.
