Cryosurgery is one of several modalities currently in widespread use f
or the treatment of nonmelanoma skin cancer. This review discusses its
place among the other accepted methods of treatment, such as excision
, curettage and cautery, radiotherapy, Mohs surgery, and immunotherapy
, which are discussed elsewhere in this issue. The scientific basis fo
r cryosurgery is described and there is detailed practical guidance on
performance of cryosurgery, selection of patients, and the outcome of
treatment.
