Dispersion and impedance characteristics have been obtained for a comp
letely shielded edge-coupled conductor-backed coplanar waveguide. It i
s demonstrated that dielectric loading can considerably improve these
characteristics with respect to mode coupling. On the other hand the u
nloaded structure can yield high-directivity couplers. (C) 1996 John W
