Abstract
Easy new methods for introducing and removing the diphenylmethyl group as a protective group of carboxylic acids are presented. For the form ation of the diphenylmethyl esters from the carboxylic acids and benzh ydrol, the unusual A(AL)2 mechanism is followed.
