Investigations on aligned HgBa2CaCu2O6+delta(Hg-1212) powder were perf
ormed by measuring magnetization parallel and perpendicular to the app
lied magnetic field as a function of temperature, field, and the field
orientation in the irreversible regime. The anisotropy ratio epsilon
approximate to 1/5 is found indicating that Hg-1212 is one of the leas
t anisotropic materials among the technically important high-T-c super
conducting families. The scaling results for the magnetic field and th
e in-plane and the out-of-plane critical current densities agree preci
sely with the collective pinning theory and its scaling approach for a
nisotropic materials.
