O. Bortolini et M. Fogagnolo, MASS-SPECTROMETRY OF SULFUR-CONTAINING-COMPOUNDS IN ORGANIC AND BIOORGANIC FIELDS, Mass spectrometry reviews, 14(2), 1995, pp. 117-162
This survey covers the mass spectrometric properties of organosulfur c
ompounds containing the sulfide, disulfide, and sulfone functional gro
ups. Attention is paid to the uni- and bimolecular chemistry of both p
ositive and negative ions, as well as to the reactions of ions, with s
ulfur containing species: in the gas phase. The role of other function
al groups on the decomposition of organic S, SO, SO2 containing gaseou
s ions is also discussed. The selection of sulfur containing compounds
includes many naturally occurring and pharmaceutically significant pr
oducts, that will be presented in the following order: alkaloids, amin
o acids, peptides, proteins, carbohydrates, steroids, and metabolites.
