An extension of an anisotropic damage model is proposed to take into a
ccount the crack closure phenomenon and elastic moduli recovery. Our a
pproach is built on a micromechanical analysis and leads to the introd
uction of a fourth-order parameter which controls damage activation/de
activation and does not require further information with respect to th
e basic version of the model. The emphasis is put on continuity of the
stress-strain response.
