Abstract
Forced precipitation of scale can be obtained by controlled heating of a metallic surface. Electrochemical impedance is then measured versus time and allows the evaluation of the incrusting character of scale d eposits which is a consequence of its thickness and of its compactness and adhesion to the substrate. The method has been used to demonstrat e the efficiency of a chemical treatment founded on the addition of a scale inhibitor, aminotris(methylenephosphonic) acid (ATMP).
