N. Pearson et No. Crossland, MEASUREMENT OF COMMUNITY PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND RESPIRATION IN OUTDOOR ARTIFICIAL STREAMS, Chemosphere, 32(5), 1996, pp. 913-919
In a system of six outdoor artificial streams, diurnal oxygen and temp
erature cycles were continuously monitored using probes coupled to a d
ata logger. Data were used to calculate diurnal photosynthesis and res
piration of communities df periphyton and invertebrates. The value of
this method in ecotoxicology is illustrated by reference to experiment
s with the herbicide atrazine and the insecticide lindane.
