Abstract
A variety of methods were utilized to study the mechanism of carbonyla tion of organolithium compounds. Convincing evidence that the reaction of aryllithium compounds takes place by radical pathways, being the e lectron transfer from aryllithium to CO the first rate-determining ste p, is presented. On the other hand, in the reactions of lithium dialky lamides no evidence for radical intermediates was found.
