The elastic scattering of 490 MeV N-14 on (92)MO and Au-197 were measu
red and were analyzed by optical model analysis. It is found that opti
cal potentials with shallower real potential depths gave the best fits
for Mo-92, while deeper real potential depths gave the best fits for
Au-197. A continuous ambiguity of the optical potential was also obser
ved and explored, The 1.509 MeV first excited state of Mo-92 was also
measured and calculations with different optical potentials were perfo
rmed to resolve some of the optical potential ambiguities.
