D. Henke et H. Tyrroff, ION-OPTICAL SYSTEM FOR TRANSPORT AND DECELERATION OF HIGHLY-CHARGED IONS, Review of scientific instruments, 67(3), 1996, pp. 1070-1072
An ion optical system which transports the highly charged ions of an E
CR ion source to a RES end station of a 2 MV Van de Graaff beam line i
s described. The highly charged ions are focused and decelerated in a
four-electrode lens to a spot size of about 5 mm on the grounded targe
t. The system transports ion currents of 0.1-50 mu A with 90% transmis
sion to final kinetic energies of q(10-10000) eV (q being the charge
state of the ion). (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
