G. Bellis et al., TREATMENT BY IODIZED OIL (LIPIODOL(R) UF) OF A POPULATION IN MALI SUFFERING FROM ENDEMIC GOITER, Journal of endocrinological investigation, 19(1), 1996, pp. 1-5
In order to reduce the prevalence of goiter in a village of Mall liabl
e to iodine deficiency, an iodized product (Lipiodol(R) Ultra Fluide)
was orally administered to their inhabitants. Taking into account a se
ries of demographic variables and goiter types, a protocol was conduct
ed using Lipiodol at three different dosage levels. Six months after t
he treatment, the hormone levels regained normal values, whereas only
the smallest dose reduces the volume of goiters significantly.
