BACKGROUND. New variants of cutaneous lymphoma other than mycosis fung
oides and Sezary syndrome continue to be described. OBJECTIVE. A pract
ical classification Of cutaneous lymphomas is presented with detailed
discussions of angiocentric T cell lymphoma, subcutaneous T cell lymph
oma, and malignant angioendotheliomatosis. METHODS. The recent pertine
nt medical literature relating to unusual cutaneous lymphomas is revie
wed. RESULTS/CONCLUSION. The utilization of immunohistochemistry in th
e dermatopathology laboratory has greatly enhanced the ability to reco
gnize and categorize cutaneous lymphoma. Some illnesses previously bel
ieved to be non-neoplastic diseases are malignant lymphomas.
