A. Passalides et al., INFLAMMATORY PSEUDOTUMOR OF THE LIVER IN CHILDREN - A CASE-REPORT ANDREVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, European journal of pediatric surgery, 6(1), 1996, pp. 35-37
A case of hepatic inflammatory pseudotumor with preoperative diagnosis
of malignancy in a 14-year-old girl is reported. The lesion manifeste
d clinically with prolonged fever of unknown etiology. Accurate diagno
sis was established by laparotomy, resection of the tumor and histolog
ical examination. The patient remains asymptomatic during a 2-year fol
low-up. Inflammatory pseudotumor of the liver should be considered in
the differential diagnosis of such cases and the treatment might be mo
re conservative after accurate diagnosis establishment, which is never
theless difficult to achieve.
