Abstract
Dioxa[3.3](3,6)carbazolophane 1 has been synthesized by the cyclizatio n reaction between 3,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)carbazole and corresponding d ibromide. The transannular pi-pi electronic properties of 1 in solutio n were examined by absorption and emission spectra. The structure of 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystal analysis.
