Jm. Mueller et al., TELANGIECTATIC NEVUS IN CHILDHOOD TREATED WITH A FLASHLAMP-PUMPED PULSED DYE-LASER, Monatsschrift fur Kinderheilkunde, 144(2), 1996, pp. 116-118
A 5-year old girl who presented with a congenital telangiectatic nevus
localized on both cheeks was treated with a flashlamp pumped pulsed d
ye laser in 3 cycles of 1-2 months over a period of 9 months. This las
er treatment is particularly suitable for plane, pink vascular stains
predominantly occurring in childhood. As the duration of the dye laser
pulse is shorter than the thermal relaxation time of the blood vessel
s, unspecific damage of the tissue by heat conduction can be avoided.
Therefore the flashlamp pumped pulsed dye laser can induce selective p
hotothermolysis. Without producing scars a good cosmetic result can be
achieved and stigmatisation and psychic injury of the young patient c
an be prevented.
