Ab. Winick et al., RETAINED CONTRAST AFTER EMBOLIZATION OF A RIGHT GASTRIC ARTERY PSEUDOANEURYSM, Cardiovascular and interventional radiology, 19(2), 1996, pp. 110-112
Pseudoaneurysms due to chronic pancreatitis can be a source of major g
astrointestinal (GI) hemorrhage, Computed tomography (CT) is the prima
ry diagnostic imaging modality for pancreatic pseudocysts associated w
ith GI bleeding. Pseudoaneurysms and associated GI bleeding can be dia
gnosed and embolized with transcatheter techniques once the arterial a
natomy is defined. CT is a useful modality for follow-up examination o
f the pseudocyst; the findings must be correlated with other procedure
s performed on these patients. On follow-up studies, contrast medium r
etained in the pseudocyst after embolization may falsely signal persis
tent bleeding into the pseudocyst.
