Abstract
1,4-Diketones have been prepared by aldol condensation of methyl keton es with alpha-bromo ketones in the presence of tert-butoxymagnesium or diethylamido magnesium bromide and subsequent rearrangement of the fo rmed 4-bromo-3-hydroxy ketones under the action of triethylamine.
