K. Werner et J. Aichelin, LINKING DYNAMICAL AND THERMAL MODELS OF ULTRARELATIVISTIC NUCLEAR-SCATTERING, Physical review letters, 76(7), 1996, pp. 1027-1030
To analyze ultrarelativistic nuclear interactions, usually either dyna
mical models like the string model are employed, or a thermal treatmen
t based on hadrons or quarks is applied. String models encounter probl
ems due to high string densities; thermal approaches are too simplisti
c. considering only average distributions and ignoring fluctuations. W
e propose a completely new approach. providing a link between the two
treatments, and avoiding their main shortcomings: based on the string
model, connected regions of high energy density are identified for sin
gle events, such regions being referred to as quark matter droplets. E
ach individual droplet hadronizes instantaneously according to the ava
ilable,I-body phase space. making use of special Monte Carlo technique
