The optical parameters of optically uniaxial gamma(1)-(GaxIn1-x)(2)Se-
3 single crystals are systematically measured and analyzed. The optica
l rotatory power along the optical c-axis is determined in visible spe
ctral region at 77 K and at room temperature and complemented with the
oretical estimates for other crystallographic directions. The g(33) co
mponent of the gyration tensor is calculated from the experimental dat
a. The dichroism is studied in the vicinity of the absorption edges. T
he dispersion of ordinary and extraordinary refraction indices is dete
rmined at room temperature for the transparency window 0.57 to 10 mu m
. Up to 5 mu m the dispersion can be interpreted in terms of nonintera
cting harmonic oscillators (single-term Sellmeier relation).
