A power and spectrally efficient modulation which increases transmit o
utput power and reduces interference among adjacent channel users in P
CS and satellite TV broadcasting applications is presented. This modul
ation named Filtered Quadrature Phase Shift Keying or ''FQPSK'' can be
nonlinearly amplified using class C amplifiers allowing 7-10 dB incre
ase in transmit output power compared to QPSK modulated systems. This
gain in output power leads to transmission coverage in applications, l
onger battery life and reduced radiation for PCS users.
