Indirect fluorescence detection was applied to the detection of the hi
gh explosives nitroguanidine (NGU), ethylene glycol dinitrate (EGDN),
cyclotetramethylene tetranitramine (HMX), cyclotrimethylene trinitrami
ne (RDX), nitroglycerine (NG), 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), pentaeryth
ol tetranitrate (PETN) and trinitrophenyl-methylnitramine (tetryl), se
parated by MEKC. Two fluorophores, fluorescein and rhodamine B, were i
nvestigated. All explosives except NGU and PETN were detected but sens
itivity was poor. Some of this lack in sensitivity may be associated w
ith laser instability.
