Abstract
A short discussion of the history of the ore mining in St. Joachimstha l is presented, emphasizing its role in the discovery and production o f radium, production of uranium dyes and in the development of radioth erapy. The historical procedures used in the production of uranium and radium in St. Joachimsthal are also briefly outlined.
