A series of binuclear complexes of the type [M(HDCTH)(H2O)(2)\(2)X(2)
[where HDCTH =a schiff base derived from the condensation of isonicoti
nic acid hydrazide (INH) and diacetylmonoxime (DM), [M=Co-II, Ni-II an
d Cu-II, and X=Cl-, Br-, NO3-] have been prepared and characterised by
elemental analyses, magnetic measurements, electronic and IR spectral
analyses. Infra red spectra of the complexes indicate the participati
on of azomethine nitrogen, oxime oxygen and carbonyl oxygen. The water
molecules are coordinated as evidenced from the IR and thermal analys
es. The magnetic and reflectance spectra suggest an approximately octa
hedral symmetry around the metal ions.
