T. Sugimoto et al., SURGICAL-TREATMENT OF ABDOMINAL AORTIC-ANEURYSM DUE TO VASCULO-BEHCETS DISEASE - A CASE-REPORT, Vascular surgery, 30(2), 1996, pp. 171-174
A thirty-two-year-old woman was operated on for abdominal aortic aneur
ysm due to vasculo-Behcet's disease. Her aortography showed an aneurys
m of curious eggplant-like configuration. At operation, the aneurysm w
as found to be adhered to the surrounding organ with the severely thic
kened wall. The diseased aorta was replaced with Y-shaped Dacron graft
. Three anastomosis sites were apart from the inflammation and were ro
lled up with the Teflon felt for reinforcement. Pathology of the disea
sed wall showed an infiltration of the inflammatory cells with the sma
ll-vessel vasculitis due to Behcet's disease. She has had an uneventfu
l postoperative course with a tapering corticosteroid therapy.
