M. Chartier et al., MASS MEASUREMENT OF SECONDARY IONS OF A=100 IN THE VICINITY OF SN-100USING THE 2ND CYCLOTRON OF GANIL, ACT PHY P B, 27(1-2), 1996, pp. 451-456
Two experiments aimed at measuring the masses of secondary ions of A =
100 in the vicinity of Sn-100 have recently been performed, using the
second cyclotron of GANIL (CSS2) as a high resolution spectrometer. T
he first experiment provided very encouraging preliminary results on t
he masses of Cd-100 and In-100, reproduced with a precision of similar
to 100 keV the known mass excess of Cd-100 and we measured for the fi
rst time the mass of In-100 with a precision of 5 x 10(-6). The relati
ve mass differences between the A = 100 secondary ions are less than 3
x 10(-4), and they can thus be simultaneously accelerated in CSS2. In
the second experiment - which was run in late July 1995 - we used the
same method with a slightly different set-up and it is envisaged that
the mass of Sn-100 will be determined (we observed very likely about
10 events of Sn-100(22+)). Th, data analysis is in progress.
