Al. Volynskii et al., SPECIFIC FEATURES OF SOLVENT CRAZING OF B ULK POLY(ETHYLENE-TEREPHTHALATE) SAMPLES, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 38(2), 1996, pp. 269-275
Specific features of solvent crazing in thick PET films with thickness
es of 170 and 700 mu m were studied. Experimental evidence obtained by
the methods of pressure-driven liquid permeability and small-angle X-
ray scattering showed that parameters of fibrillar-porous structure of
solvent crazes in thick PET films were independent of loading conditi
ons as well as of the nature of a surface-active liquid environment. S
olvent crazing in thick polymer films was also studied by optical and
scanning electron microscopies. Direct microscopic observations showed
that the specific features of solvent crazing in bulk PET samples wer
e related to branching of individual crazes and development of numerou
s smaller crazes and shear bands containing microscopic pores in the c
ore region of a sample.
