Structuration in solutions of N-vinylpyrrolidone-based heteropolymers
containing functional groups that are capable of forming intramolecula
r contacts was studied by polarized luminescence. For copolymers of N-
vinylpyrrolidone with unsaturated carboxylic acids as an example, the
effect of the distribution of proton-donating carboxylic acid groups o
n the formation of the internal structure of macromolecules by intrach
ain hydrogen bonding was demonstrated. For heteropolymers containing l
ong alkyl radicals and cationic groups in the side chains, the importa
nt role of hydrophobic interactions on the molecular mobility of macro
molecules in solution was established.
