It was established that the thermodynamic quality of solvent plays a d
ecisive role both in the kinetics of intermolecular contact formation
between iso and syndio configurations of PMMA at the first moment upon
mixing of the dilute solutions, and in the subsequent structure forma
tion. The latter process may lead to either a tertiary structure with
mobile linear fragments between network junctions (with improvement of
the thermodynamic quality of solvent) or a two-strand structure (when
thermodynamic quality of solvent become poorer). The solvent molecule
s form hydrogen bonds with carbonyl groups of PMMA, thus hindering the
formation of stereopoly complexes and even leading to their breakdown
in thermodynamically poor solvents.
