Exposure of spheroplasts of Synechococcus to ultraviolet-B radiation i
nduced loss in whole chain electron transport and photosystem (PS) 2 e
lecton transport activities without affecting PS1. The measurements of
PS2 activities both at limiting and saturating irradiances indicated
that alterations in light-harvesting complex of PS2 as well as alterat
ions in reaction centre were responsible for the inhibition of PS2 act
ivity during short-term exposure to UV-B radiation.
