Abstract
In Italy, Telecom Italia has started a plan to develop a broadband net work platform that will offer broadcast video, interactive multimedia, and telecommunication services: The SOCRATE project is based on analo g and digital channel transmission, the subcarrier multiplexing techni que, and hybrid fiber/coaxial architecture. In this article, the effec t of clipping impulsive noise is considered in the evaluation of the p erformance of the analog/digital multichannel transmission system. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
