Mk. Kwak et D. Sciulli, FUZZY-LOGIC BASED VIBRATION SUPPRESSION CONTROL EXPERIMENTS ON ACTIVESTRUCTURES, Journal of sound and vibration, 191(1), 1996, pp. 15-28
This paper is concerned with the fuzzy-logic based vibration suppressi
on control of active structures equipped with piezoelectric sensors an
d actuators. The control methodology is based on the fuzzy logic contr
ol of the variable structure system type. The sufficient condition for
the closed-loop stability of the decentralized fuzzy control for the
system equipped with collocated sensors and actuators is derived from
the sufficient condition of the decentralized collocated variable stru
cture system control. Hence, it is concluded that the fuzzy control is
in fact the variation of the variable structure system control in thi
s case. Comparison of the variable structure system to the fuzzy contr
ol leads to a new fuzzy rule for the vibration suppression of the acti
ve structure equipped with collocated sensors and actuators. It is sho
wn that the fuzzy-logic control can be designed for the collocated sys
tem without any knowledge of the system to be controlled. However, thi
s may not be true in the case of multi-input and multi-output non-coll
ocated systems. All the developments are demonstrated by means of a re
al-time fuzzy control experiment on the cantilever beam with surface-b
onded piezoceramic sensors and actuators. (C) 1996 Academic Press Limi
