Abstract
We report on calculations of excitonic properties of weakly one-dimens ional quantum wires where the exciton centre of mass is quantized by t he harmonic potentials of electron and hole. The level scheme as well as the exciton scattering by alloy fluctuations and acoustical phonons are discussed.
