A new pathway for the synthesis of cyclic derivatives of 2-amino-4-nit
rophenol by application of dibromoalkanes is described. This general m
ethod was used for the preparation of several heterocycles (partially
saturated 1,4-benzoxazines, 1,5-benzosazepine, 1,6-benzoxazocines). Tw
o rotamers are present in solution of the N-formyl derivatives, the re
lative amounts depending on the solvent used.
