K. Hoffmann et al., OPTICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF ORGANIZED ADSORBATES IN ZEOLITE MICROCRYSTALS - POLARIZED ABSORPTION-SPECTROSCOPY, Zeolites, 16(4), 1996, pp. 281-286
Chromophores are incorporated in a highly ordered manner in molecular
sieve crystals. The resulting geometric arrangement is determined by t
he pore structure. Microfocus u.v.-vis spectroscopy on individual zeol
ite microcrystals is used for the investigation of the electronic stat
es of the incorporated compounds. The polarization-dependent measureme
nts on single crystals allow the determination of the alignment of zeo
lite-hosted guest molecules. The new method can be used to determine t
he guest concentration in the microcrystal at very low loading via the
Lambert-Beer law.
