Abstract
Annihilation of proton-antiproton (<p(p)over bar>) in flight into two mesons is analysed in the nonrelativistic A2 quark model including the P-3(0) quark-antiquark dynamics. Instead of the previously derived lo w-energy approximation an exact A2 transition amplitude is used. Apply ing a full coupled channels formalism we investigate the particular an nihilation processes <p(p)over bar> --> pi pi and <p(p)over bar> --> < K(K)over bar>. Total and differential cross sections can be reproduced , assuming an additional strangeness suppression factor in the Kg chan nel. Inclusion of final state interaction only effects polarisation ob servables and differential cross sections in the backward region.
