Abstract
A series of 5-(5''-substituted-3 ''-bromophenyl)-2'-beta- deoxyuridine s were prepared and investigated for their activity against HCMV and H IV. None of the compounds exhibited any activity against HIV at the hi ghest concentration, 100 mu g ml(-1). In the HCMV ELISA assay the ED(5 0) and CD50 values of the 5-(5 ''-substituted-3 ''-bromophenyl)-2'-deo xyuridines were about 60 mu g ml(-1) and 150 mu g ml(-1), respectively .
