(Solid + liquid) phase diagrams have been constructed for (trichlorome
thane + cyclohexanone, or butanone, or 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone). Soli
d addition compounds form with the empirical formulae: CHCl3 . C6H10O,
CHCl3 . C5H9NO, (CHCl3)(2) . C4H8O, (CHCl3)(2) . C6H10O, and (CHCl3)(
2) . C5H9NO. Compound formation is attributed to charge-transfer inter
action for the first two compounds, and to hydrogen bonding for the la
