Mer. Mchale et al., SOLUBILITY OF ANTHRACENE IN (BINARY ALCOHOL PLUS 2-BUTOXYETHANOL) SOLVENT MIXTURES, Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 28(2), 1996, pp. 209-214
Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in eig
ht binary mixtures containing 2-butoxyethanol with 1-propanol, 2-propa
nol, 1-butanol, 2-butanol, 1-octanol, 1-pentanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol
and 3-methyl-1-butanol at 25 degrees C. Results of these measurements
are used to test two mathematical representations based upon the combi
ned Nearly Ideal Binary Solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and Mod
ified Wilson model. For the eight systems studied, both equations were
found to provide an accurate mathematical representation of the exper
imental data, with an overall average absolute deviation between measu
red and calculated values being on the order of 0.9 per cent or less.
