Da. Rothmaier et M. Kirchgessner, NUTRITIVE-VALUE OF SWEET WHITE LUPIN SEED (LUPINUS-ALBUS L) FOR RUMINANTS, Agribiological research, 48(3-4), 1995, pp. 325-329
In a digestion trial, using 6 wethers (Merino landrace) in 2 periods,
the nutritive value of the 2 sweet lupin provenances Amiga and Lublanc
was examined. The proximate composition of the lupins was 34 % XP, 9
% XL, 15 % XF and 37 % XX in dry matter (DM). The digestibility of the
organic matter was 79 % (Amiga) and 82 % (Lublanc), the energy value
13.2/13.4 MJ ME per kg DM and 8.0/8.3 MJ NEL per kg DM. The use of whi
te lupins for fattening cattle and dairy cows is discussed.
