Abstract
Natural cyclodextrins can be chemically modified in a regioselective m anner. Amphiphilic ''skirt-shaped cyclodextrins'' have been prepared b y esterification of alcohol groups of the cyclodextrin secondary hydro xyl face by acyl chloride of variable chain length. Such derivatives c an self-assemble in interesting supramolecular structures. The prelimi nary results of the physicochemical characterizations and applications of these new systems are presented.
