Vi. Davydenko et al., RADIAL ELECTRIC-FIELD MEASUREMENT IN A TOKAMAK BY THE INJECTION OF A PULSED NEUTRAL BEAM, Plasma physics and controlled fusion, 36(11), 1994, pp. 1805-1817
The detection of the profile of the radial electric held of a tokamak
by the perpendicular injection of a pulsed neutral beam into the plasm
a is analysed. The method is based on the measurement of the toroidal
precession velocity of the ion population thus formed. The toroidal dr
ift is caused by the curvature of the magnetic field lines and by the
electric field. For the separation of these two effects, the use of a
beam with two energy fractions is studied. The application of this dia
gnostic scheme in a real tokamak is considered.
