Abstract
The biodegradation of root material in the industrially generated soil s of the Kansk-Achinsk Thermal Power Complex Area (KATPCA) was investi gated. The advisability of using different mathematical models for var ious stages of the process and its individual components is demonstrat ed. Special attention is given to physiological breakdown of the mater ial. The role of small soil-dwelling animals in the biodegradation of root residues is discussed.
