Soil reclamation is an indispensable element of agriculture. Under mod
ern conditions, it may be effective if reclamation practices are imple
mented on the basis of the landscape geochemical principle of evaluati
ng the object of reclamation; of the adaptive use of complex practices
directed toward improving soil properties and soil regimes; and of th
e absolute economic interest and appropriate education of the farmer.
The modern status of reclamation is analyzed by zones of the country,
and the need is shown for using reclamation practices adequate to the
genetic properties of the soils, parent materials, weather, climate, a
nd landscape geochemical conditions.
